The workspace for HBP, designed to accommodate a diverse range of businesses, is conceptualized as a large, visually transparent space divided by multiple vertical barriers. These barriers create distinct work areas and a meeting space while maintaining a sense of openness. The constraints of the existing structure and services drive the spatial layout, which is efficient, volumetric, and hierarchical. The design focuses on creating a spatially expansive environment that remains physically divided, achieved through seamless, continuous horizontal and vertical surfaces.
The furniture is designed with a sense of gravitas, defining and anchoring the individual workspaces, which are made to feel larger than their physical dimensions. The work desks feature robust concrete tops paired with shou shugi ban wood, while the couches pay tribute to George Nakashima, honoring his legacy of craftsmanship and woodworking, highlighting the natural beauty of wood.
